Connecting Students With Certified Spanish Instructors
Homeschool Spanish Academy (HSA) is a unique program that connects students with certified Spanish instructors in Guatemala via the Internet. What makes this business so interesting however, is the opportunity that makes everything possible.
When the founder, Ron Fortin, went down to Guatemala in 2010, he observed that there were several hundred Spanish schools within the Antigua, Guatemala area, with very experienced quality teachers.
With a focus on tourism, he identified several problems within the existing local Spanish teaching market. For one, tourism is extremely cyclical. Meaning that a teacher might have a student for three to four weeks and then go without another student for the next 2-3 months, making it almost impossible for a teacher to plan their schedule, much less their lives. As a result, many Spanish teachers often jumped from school to school just to find enough work.
Furthermore, this makes it nearly impossible for the Spanish schools to plan their own finances and relies on them to constantly find new customers, a very expensive endeavor.
Offering High Quality Spanish Education
Homeschool Spanish Academy solved these problems by offering high quality Spanish education, to a community who has a clear need, homeschoolers, 12 months out of the year (yes, HSA offers summer school).
With consistent work, HSA is able to offer Guatemalan Spanish teachers, things they have never had before. For one, a stable job.
