How to Change Language on Alexa

Here are two ways to transform your Alexa into a Spanish-speaking virtual assistant! By setting your Alexa to Spanish mode, you unlock a new Spanish voice for Alexa along with Spanish media and news.

Multilingual Mode

Multilingual mode allows Alexa to switch between English and Spanish. To turn on multilingual mode, all you have to do is say, “Hey Alexa, speak English and Spanish.”

Now, you can talk to Alexa in both languages without having to change the settings. As you switch between English and Spanish, Alexa will follow your lead through its language detection system.

If you want Alexa to stop speaking in Spanish, simply say “Alexa, stop speaking Spanish.” This will restore Alexa to English-only.

Keep in mind that the multilingual mode has some regional restrictions. The Spanish and English multilingual mode is available to US customers. However, if you live outside the country, you may not have access to this feature.

To turn on multilingual mode, all you have to do is say, “Hey Alexa, speak English and Spanish.”

How to Set Alexa to Spanish

If you want to do a full immersion and completely switch to Spanish, you need to change the default language.

Open the Alexa app. Tap “More,” “Settings,” “Device,” and then select the device you want to change. Click “More Settings” then scroll down and click on “Language.” Select Spanish from the language list.
