5 Spanish Spring Art Activities for Preschoolers

Spanish learning activities for springtime stimulate your child’s creativity and imagination. These art projects for preschoolers are guaranteed to spark motivation and get them interested in the seasonal changes happening around them.

1. Rain Jar

This experiment is ideal for teaching young learners about the awaited springtime rains, also known as “April showers.”

Materials:

  • a glass jar
  • a can of foaming shaving cream
  • blue food coloring
  • a dropper
  • water

Have your child fill half of the jar with water and leave space at the top for a small amount of shaving cream. The shaving cream is meant to simulate una nube (a cloud) and the water is el aire (the air) filling the sky.

Ask your kids what they think will happen once they start dropping the blue coloring on the shaving cream.

The blue drops of coloring should fall through the shaving cream clouds. It’s a fun experiment and a unique spring activity to teach your child the science of rainfall.

2. Play-doh Butterfly

Spring brings colorful butterflies and caterpillars. Kids are naturally drawn to them, and they make an interesting lesson on colors and nature in Spanish.

Take your preschool students outside and allow them to observe las mariposas (butterflies) and las orugas (caterpillars) in their natural habitat.

Have them recreate their favorite butterfly or caterpillar using colorful play-doh. Molding clay is fantastic to stimulate kids’ motor skills and creativity.

These painting methods require concentration and stimulate the use of fine motor skills.
