It is impossible to deny that the Internet has become a fundamental part of our lives. As homeschool parents, we know that videos are helpful tools to improve our children’s education. And, of course, Youtube has a unique role in homeschooling, sometimes as a compliment to the curriculum, and in other cases, as the primary learning method.
While YouTube provides infinite videos on different topics, selecting the appropriate material for our children is becoming increasingly challenging.
How to choose between hundreds and hundreds of channels? How do we know which one is appropriate for our child? Are they all good?
That’s why I selected the best 25 homeschool Youtube channels you should follow to help you and your child in the homeschooling journey.

Science and Nature
1. SciShow Kids
This homeschool YouTube channel is ideal for early-elementary learners from grades 1 to 3.
Scishow Kids is perfect for answering questions and explaining fun, complex scientific concepts to young minds. Every Tuesday and Thursday, Jessi, the host, and her cartoon rat release a new episode. They conduct experiments and talk to experts about nature and the world around us.
How do bees make honey? How do insect eyes work? There’s always something new to discover. Each episode lasts approximately twenty minutes and is structured around the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
If you have middle or high school children, don’t worry, there’s also a SciShow channel for older kids! The videos are more complex, and the hosts delve into scientific subjects that defy our expectations.
2. Sick Science
No science channel can compete with Sick Science regarding fun experiments.
The best-selling author and Emmy award-winning Steve Spangler explains science and physics through experimentation. More than 250 videos of easy science experiments for all ages, starting from kindergarten.
What’s best is that you don’t have to buy anything; your child can do all the experiments with kitchen materials.
This channel is excellent for those who want to practice what they learn in books.
3. Science Sparks
Emma Vanstone is an author, educator, and blogger who use games and experiments to teach science in this homeschool YouTube channel.
From “how to make a lava lamp” to “coding for kids,” in this channel, your children will find great experiments to understand life and the universe.
Her videos are easy to follow and appropriate for all ages. However, I strongly recommend this channel for parents with toddlers and elementary students, as some of the experiments might be “very basic” for older kids.
4. Deep Look
If your child is passionate about nature and animals, you don’t want to miss this channel.
Deep Look is a science video series that explores big science using macrophotography and microscopy in 4K resolution. Children and parents can see nature up close. Deep Look releases new episodes twice a month.
I recommend this channel for middle and high school students, as it requires a deeper understanding of nature and biology.
5. Australia Zoo
We could not leave out a classic homeschool YouTube channel on this list!
Remember Steve Irwin? This youtube channel will bring a few tears to your eyes.
The Irwin family and the Wildlife Warriors will take you and your children through a wild ride while you gain access to their adventures with the most exotic and fantastic animals. As a result, your children will not only learn about nature, but they will also understand the importance of wildlife conservation.
Most videos are 10 minutes long and posted every Thursday and Saturday. Enough time to have fun while learning!
Math
6. Vihart
This is one of homeschool parents’ favorites and, in my opinion, one of the best sources for kids from elementary to high school.
Victoria Hart (Vi Hart) is a mathematician and YouTuber that makes math fun. Vi explains mathematical concepts through doodles and combines geometry, Pi, anti-Pi, and math terms with art and music.
Hart also uses math to solve real-life problems and encourages children to experiment with objects in their surroundings. One of my favorite videos is the Hexaflexagons.
7. CTC Math
This channel might be your best ally if you have an elementary student at home.
CTCMath is an online math curriculum with 1,367 video tutorials and over 57,000 interactive questions. It’s perfect for children struggling with math. The professor, Pat Murray, explains to children and gives the parents the best tips to teach math concepts.
Although the graphics are not the best, the content is high-leveled.
8. Math Mammoth
This homeschool YouTube channel is part of the Math Mammoth full math curriculum and emphasizes conceptual understanding and number sense. The videos are categorized from grades 1 to 7.
The creator, Maria Miller, explains math concepts such as multi-digit multiplication, addition, subtraction, and fractions in a fun way. At the same time, she uses the whiteboard to make the children feel like they are in a real classroom.
9. Numberphile
Numberphile might be the best option for older kids. Its creator, Ben Sparks, explains everything about numbers and their use in real-life situations with humor.
The show includes mathematicians and other guests from around the world to explain the biggest mysteries of math.
If you are homeschooling a senior student, Numberphile can help them to figure out if they want to choose a career related to mathematics.
10. Socratica
Socratica combines high-quality educational videos on math, science, and computer programming in only one channel. It’s appropriate for middle and high school students.
What I like the most about Socratica is its many lists, including study tips, math and algebra playlists, and chemistry classes that last no longer than 9 minutes.

11. OverSimplified
Have you ever imagined that the Napoleonic Wars or the Russian Revolution could be summarized in 20 minutes? This youtube channel made it possible.
“Explaining things in an OverSimplified way.” There’s nothing more to say about this fantastic channel. Each episode explains an important event in history by using animations and cartoons.
Learning history has never been more accessible and fun.
Great for middle and high school students and parents who want to understand how civilizations were formed and transformed.
12. Travel Kids
The best method to teach geography to young kids is by making them feel amused by the diversity of cultures, landscapes, and languages.
Travel Kids is ideal for kids from 4 to 13 years old. Every Saturday, a new video is released with exciting information about one nation or region.
Each video focuses on one country, its traditions, important monuments, traditional food, and its main characteristics. After that, the journey begins wherever your child wants to.
I love this channel because it combines authentic images with funny graphics and animations—a great complement to your geography curriculum.
13. Timeline
Every week Timeline will bring your child one-off documentaries and series from the world’s top broadcasters, including the BBC, Channel 4, Discovery, and PBS.
From the mysteries of ancient Egypt to the dark ages of medieval Europe, in every episode, you and your child will travel to the past to recreate its most important events.
I recommend this channel for teenagers and high school students, as it’s more serious and requires total attention.
14. Crash Course
Crash Course is a homeschool YouTube channel with weekly high-quality educational videos. Its History List is one of my favorites.
Fun, entertaining, and extremely useful for homeschooling, this channel must be in your children’s curriculum.
It can help your child to understand complex topics or to study for a test. The best is that it has content for all ages, from younger kids to seniors preparing for college.
Now Crash Course is producing a Black American History course that promises a lot!
15. John D. Ruddy
John D. Ruddy is an actor, illustrator, writer, teacher, and historian that combines art with history through videos.
He covers historical events and explains the main implications of wars in the present with drawings and animation.
I recommend this channel for middle and high school teens, and I encourage you to watch the videos before you show them to your children.
Arts And Crafts
16. Red Ted Art
This channel provides easy-to-follow crafts and ideas for all age groups, from kindergartens to teens.
Your child can use everyday and recycled items to make crafts and experiment with art. Some of my favorite lists are the “Teens and Tweens,” “Kids Crafts,” and “Together Projects.”
17. Wow Art
Every episode of Wow Art shows how anyone can be an artist.
Creating a masterpiece takes less than 30 minutes, and your children don’t need special tools or skills. They only need patience and creativity.
Although Wow Art is made for kids of all ages, I think it’s an excellent tool, especially for elementary and middle school kids.
18. KIDS Crafts
Do you want to improve your children’s final motor skills? Then, this channel might be the best.
KIDS Crafts will show your child to create objects out of paper. From easy jumping paper snakes to 3D paper objects such as fruits and houses, these tutorials are great for kids of all ages.
Remember, if you keep promoting crafts, your children might be more interested in expressing themselves through art.

In 2008 Jean Van’t Hul, a new mother that wanted to raise her daughter in an art-rich environment, created The Artful Parent blog.

Erica is one of the most famous homeschooling YouTubers and educational bloggers. You will find all you need to know about homeschooling in her channel. She focuses on the best learning styles, tips for parents, how to pick a good curriculum, and how to find an equilibrium between the kids and your personal life.

23. A Place To Nest
Becky is a busy stay-at-home, work-at-home, and homeschooling mother of two girls. She shares tips and ideas for homeschooling, motivation, and lifestyle videos.
Everything about homeschooling in one place! From curriculum choices and reviews to how she organizes her children’s schedules. What I like the most about Becky is that this channel also has a special section for working mothers and fathers.
