Welcome to our “Read in Spanish” Blog Series for High School Students! Our series comprises 8 blog posts bursting with original and entertaining Spanish stories. Each piece in our series aligns with our high school curriculum standards and allows students to practice reading grammar elements they’ve just learned. You are currently on blog post #1.
If you’re not yet part of Homeschool Spanish Academy’s high school program, don’t worry. The only criteria here is to enjoy what you read in Spanish!

Let’s get started with what you came here for! After you read each story, try to answer the comprehension questions. If you get stuck on any of them, leave us a comment below and we’ll have an answer for you in no time!
1. En La Escuela
Hoy es lunes. Yo estoy en la escuela. Mi maestra me saluda.
“Buenos días,”, dice mi maestra.
Yo la saludo a ella.
“Buenos días maestra,” digo yo.
“¿Cómo estás?” pregunta mi maestra.
“Yo estoy bien,” respondo yo.
Mi maestra es amable. Yo soy feliz en la escuela. Tengo muchos amigos en la escuela.
“¡Hola Sofía!” dice mi amiga Ana.
“¡Hola Ana!” digo yo.
“¡Hola Sofía!” dice mi amiga Paula
“¡Hola Paula!” digo yo.
“¿Cómo estás?” pregunta Ana.
“Yo estoy bien,” respondo yo.
Todos los días yo saludo a mis amigas. Yo tengo dos amigas, Ana y Paula. Ellas son amables. Yo me divierto con ellas. Nosotras aprendemos juntas.
Me gusta ir a la escuela. Todos los días aprendo algo nuevo. Los lunes tengo tres clases. Todas las clases son divertidas. Yo quiero aprender más. Aprender es divertido.

2. Café Con Mi Amiga
El día de hoy, yo salgo con mi mejor amiga. Ella se llama Mónica. Nosotras vamos a tomar un café juntas. Nosotras nos juntamos en la cafetería.
“¡Hola Lisa!” dice Mónica.
“¡Hola Mónica!” digo yo.
“¿Cómo estás?” pregunta Mónica.
“Yo estoy bien,” respondo yo. “¿Y tú?”
“Yo también estoy bien,” dice Mónica.
A nosotras nos gusta tomar café. Nosotras compramos un café cada una. Yo tomo mi café con una cucharada de azúcar. Mónica toma su café con dos cucharadas de azúcar.
Yo compro tres galletas pequeñas. Mónica compra cuatro galletas pequeñas.
Nosotras platicamos. A Mónica y a mí nos gusta hablar. Yo quiero contarle muchas cosas a Mónica. Ella también quiere contarme muchas cosas.
Yo estoy feliz de platicar con Mónica. Mónica es mi mejor amiga. Nosotras nos divertimos juntas.
Después de tomar nuestros cafés y comer nuestras galletas, nosotras nos despedimos. Nosotras decidimos juntarnos otra vez. Mónica y yo decidimos juntarnos el próximo lunes.
“¡Adiós Lisa!” dice Mónica.
“Adiós Mónica,” dice Lisa.
“Nos vemos el Lunes,” dice Mónica.

3. Mi Hermano Eduardo
Eduardo es mi hermano. Yo tengo cuatro hermanos. Eduardo es divertido. Él siempre nos hace reír. Él es muy gracioso. Mi familia lo quiere mucho. Él es el mejor hermano.
A Eduardo le gusta jugar fútbol. Él quiere ser futbolista cuando sea grande. Eduardo es un buen jugador. Nosotros jugamos fútbol juntos. Yo siempre me divierto jugando con él. A mí me gusta pasar tiempo con él. Yo me divierto mucho cuando me junto con mi hermano.
Eduardo tiene cuatro mejores amigos. Sus amigos y él juegan juntos. Ellos pasan mucho tiempo juntos. Ellos se juntan en nuestra casa. Eduardo y sus amigos son divertidos. Ellos platican y juegan juntos todo el tiempo.

5. Entonces y Ahora
