Did you know that using social media in Spanish is an excellent way to advance your language skills? There’s no better way to learn Spanish than to immerse yourself in the language you want to learn.

Why not devote some of your daily social media time to learning Spanish?

Read this article to learn how to immerse yourself in the beautiful Spanish language using social media platforms and tools. As a longtime language instructor, I realize that these tips and tricks have helped my students a ton.

Let’s get started!

10 Secrets to Spanish Immersion Using Social Media

Using social media in Spanish as a learning tool is easy and fun. Here are 35 must-have Spanish quotes to share on social media!

Social media in Spanish

Check out 10 more handy tips for immersing yourself in Spanish via social media!

1. Follow Inspiring People and Pages

When choosing who to follow on social media, ask yourself if their content is beneficial or not. The secret to success is to follow Spanish speakers who know the language well and create educational content.

Homeschool Spanish Academy has Instagram and Facebook sites that support your Spanish studies. Do some research to find other accounts that inspire you to practice Spanish as much as possible!

2. Watch Videos in Spanish

Social media in Spanish includes YouTube videos! Make sure they’re 100% in Spanish for full immersion. YouTube has all kinds of topics to choose from, such as sports, books, movies, art, and cooking!

If you’re a beginner, take note of new words to develop your vocabulary. Watch videos with subtitles or slow down the video speed if needed. Pay attention to pronunciation.

Spanish videos not only help you improve your skills but also give you a taste of Latin culture.

3. Make Your Time Count

Time spent on social media won’t be a waste if you’re learning Spanish while you’re at it!

Instead of mindlessly scrolling, consume the content of people who inspire you to be better. Social media has become an essential tool where you can invest your time and see a return. Use Instagram and Facebook to promote a product or service that you’re selling.

Social media is more than just a great place to follow Spanish speakers who inspire you. It also empowers you to find products and courses to learn and grow.

4. Join Spanish Facebook Groups

Facebook groups are a virtual community where you can find like-minded people looking for support and knowledge. Many groups (like this one) focus on Spanish language learning and share content that is helpful to the community.

5. Use Twitter to Learn Spanish Phrases

Twitter is a simple-to-use social media site that’s ideal for beginners who need to learn basic Spanish words or phrases. Follow Spanish speakers you like and pages that teach a new Spanish word each day.

Twitter posts often link to websites of other Spanish-speaking authors and celebrities. Once you feel confident with your Spanish, share tweets in Spanish and see how other Spanish speakers react to them.

6. Travel Virtually

There’s nowhere we can’t go nowadays, especially virtually. It’s fascinating to follow accounts on Instagram or Facebook that take you all over the world. Check out

  • @visitsouthamerica.co on Instagram
  • @perhapsyouneedalittleguatemala on Instagram
  • South America Backpacker on Facebook

These accounts are full of stunning travel photos and videos. Use this method to learn about Spanish-speaking countries and cultures you want to visit.

7. Change Your Language Settings

Immerse yourself further by using Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram (and all social media) in Spanish. Changing the language settings on your devices and apps to Spanish gives you exposure to lots of new Spanish words.

8. Join Virtual Communities

Facebook groups aren’t the only virtual community out there. Find like-minded Spanish learners who are looking to connect and practice their skills by searching for specific hashtags on Tumblr, Twitter, and Instagram such as #travelsouthamerica, #travelspain, and #travelcentralamerica.

Searching hashtags is a fast and easy way to find interesting content. By searching for topics that interest you in Spanish, you’ll find online communities en español to join, as well.

There are tons of platforms to choose from! Quora is a platform to ask and answer questions. Medium is for readers and writers to share ideas and information.

9. Make Interactive Videos

Social media platforms continue to expand and now allow us to make our own videos. Make reels or live videos on Instagram to entertain and educate your viewers.

Search for the #spanishvideos hashtag on IG and find all kinds of content. In the comment section, ask questions or leave a comment about the video. After all, the point of social media is to socialize!

10. Contribute to Discussions in Spanish

Forums are another form of social media in Spanish. They’re popular because they open up space for people to have conversations on specific topics. Reddit is one of the most popular spaces, as well as A Language Learner’s Forum and the WordReference forum.

If you’ve read a book in Spanish and you’d like to discuss it with someone else who has read it, why not use a forum? It’ll test your Spanish speaking skills and have you discussing topics you like.
