Zodiac Signs in Spanish: Your Personality and Horoscope Resources

Knowing about the Zodiac in Spanish will undoubtedly help you strengthen your Spanish-speaking skills and engage in meaningful conversations with other Spanish speakers!

It will also let you go deeper into your and other people’s personalities. Now, you may know that Aries in Spanish is, well, Aries. Easy, right? In Spanish it’s pronounced Ah-ree-ehs. All zodiac signs in English are pretty similar in Spanish. Aries, Tauro, Geminis, and so on. But what do you know about each zodiac sign? Do you know which signs are compatible with yours?

Also, how often do you have a fully-fledged conversation in Spanish about astrology or the horoscope?

Don’t worry. We got you covered.

Here are a few tips and tricks, vocabulary guides, and even a few Netflix shows to help you become a zodiac expert in Spanish.

What Are Zodiac Signs?

Let’s start with the basics: zodiac signs in Spanish are called los signos del zodiaco.

Now, what are they, exactly?

According to Western astrology, the zodiac signs are the twelve 30-degree sectors that make up Earth’s 360-degree orbit around the sun, and a different constellation represents each.

Simply put, your birthday determines your zodiac sign. Let’s say you were born on January 19—then you’d be a Capricorn. Or were you born on January 20? Then you’re an Aquarius. It’s only a one-day difference that changes the fate of your zodiac sign. And we’ll get into why that is later on in this article.

From here, we’ll explore all the zodiac signs in Spanish and what they represent. What’s more, I’ll give you a list of adjectives that describe the strengths and weaknesses of each zodiac sign.

Finally, you’ll learn about fire signs and earth signs and how these determine a sign’s personality. For example, Taurus is an earth sign, and Taurus is considered more grounded than, say, people born under an air sign. Taurus, also, is not compatible with Aries.

You can jump straight to your sign and then read the rest or read them all in order!

List of Spanish Zodiac Signs and Personality Adjectives

Aries — Aries (ah-ree-ehs)

Date range: March 21st to April 19th

Aries is a fire sign, which means that people born under this sign are passionate, dynamic, and temperamental. Aries is represented by the ram. Aries is compatible with other fire signs such as Leo and Sagittarius and air signs, like Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius, but incompatible with earth signs, so stay away from Taurus.

3 Must-Watch Shows or Movies About Astrology

We often hear about people who learned the basics of another language using music or after watching a foreign film or tv series. So, it’s no surprise that astrology has also made its way into popular culture. But, here are only a few series and documentaries that you can watch right now:

1. An Astrological Guide for Broken Hearts (Guía astrológica para corazones rotos)

Originally titled Guida astrologica per cuori infranti, Netflix’s An Astrological Guide for Broken Hearts is based on the novel of Italian author Silvia Zucca, and it tells the story of Alice, a heartbroken and hopelessly single woman who, after meeting an astrology guru, turns to the stars to look for her perfect match. Sure, the show is in Italian. But switch the language settings to Spanish, and you got yourself 12 episodes (each named after every sign, of course!) of a charming romantic comedy that will improve your Spanish.

2. Knights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya (Los caballeros del zodiaco)

But perhaps you’re not into romantic comedies. Are you an anime fan? One of Japan’s classic and most beloved animated shows is Knights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya or Los Caballeros del Zodiaco. It follows the adventures of four mystical warriors, and it’s loosely based on Greek mythology. In season 4, in fact, we see our heroes fight their way through the 12 Houses of the Zodiac to rescue the goddess Athena.

In 2019 Netflix released a reimagining of the series called, also, Knights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya. But you can also find the original series’ first 114 episodes, in Spanish, in Anime’s most extensive streaming service: Crunchyroll.

3. Mucho Mucho Amor: The Legend of Walter Mercado

If you’re into astrology and are learning Spanish, then you’re bound to run into the work and legacy of the legendary Puerto Rican astrologer and television personality Walter Mercado. Famous for his flamboyant outfits and charming messages filled with positivity, Walter Mercado is Latin America’s most beloved and renowned astrologist. He mainly made his mark on the Latino and Spanish-speaking community in the US. In 2020, a year after Walter passed, Netflix released a documentary called Mucho Mucho Amor: The Legend of Walter Mercado. This documentary might be perfect for people learning Spanish since it goes in and out of English, Spanish, and Spanglish—much like Walter did when he was alive.
