1. Siempre Bruja (Always a Witch)

Creator: Ana María Parra

Cast: Angely Faviria, Oscar Casas, Sofia Araujo

Seasons: 2

Rating: 6.3/10 IMDb

This is one of my favorite series in Spanish. It’s one of Netflix’s most recent original Spanish-language series, and it was a hit! This magical show is about a 17th century Afro-Latina witch who travels in time when she’s about to die.

It sounds intense, but it’s actually lighthearted and follows the main character in her adulthood in Colombia. She now lives in the present and loves the freedom and opportunities these times have to offer. At first, she’s lost but then she manages to adapt quite well and make good friends. If you love mysticism and magic, this show is perfect for you!

2. Annie con E (Anne With an E)

Creator: Moira Walley-Beckett

Cast: Amybeth McNulty, Geraldine James, Dalila Bela

Seasons: 3

Rating: 8.7/10 IMDb

You can watch Anne with an E in Spanish and have a whole different experience. Anne with an E is about an upbeat orphan whose passions run deep. She finds an unlikely home with a spinster and her brother.

This is a fun TV show to watch with the whole family. The series is an expansion of the novel Anne of Green Gables, and it promotes anti-bullying and female empowerment. It’s a splendid Spanish drama for the whole family.

3. Madre Solo hay Dos (Daughter From Another Mother)

Creator: Fernando Sariñana

Cast: Ludwika Paleta, Paulina Goto

Seasons: 1

Rating: 7.4/10 IMDb

Mariana is a free-spirited college student who is having a hard time making ends meet. Ana, on the other hand, is a rich mom. They live in different parts of town.

When Ana goes into labor unexpectedly, she goes to the nearest hospital. They usually wouldn’t have crossed paths but because of these unexpected events, they both deliver their babies in the same hospital.

It’s a warm-hearted comedy about empathy and forgiveness and a fun show to watch with the family.

4.Street Food Latin America

Creator: David Gelb

Cast: Street food vendors from Latin America

Seasons: 1

Rating: 7.9/10 IMDb

Many of the people in this wonderful documentary series have had to overcome many challenges to succeed in their businesses.

The first volume of Street Food explored different parts of Asia, and this second volume is all about the street food in Latin America. If you’re curious to see what it’s like before traveling, this documentary is perfect for you.

Different episodes feature choripanes from Buenos Aires, tacos from Mexico and traditional food from Brazil. It’ll give you a taste of the colorful—and flavorful—culture and cuisine of Latin America.

5. Luis Miguel (Luis Miguel, The Series)

Creator: Carla González

Cast: Diego Boneta, César Bordón

Seasons: 2

Rating: 8.1/10 IMDb

This unique series is dramatic and musical. Luis Miguel is a famous Mexican singer. He rose to fame as a child, and his story makes for an enjoyable series. In this series we see his rise to fame, as well as his success being shadowed by his alcoholic dad and the disappearance of his mother.

These elements make for a compelling Netflix series. In fact, it has already been renewed for a second season because people can’t seem to get enough of El Sol de Mexico, as Luis Miguel is nicknamed.

6. Las Chicas Gilmore ( Gilmore Girls)

Creator: Amy Sherman Palladino

Cast: Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel

Seasons: 7

Rating: 8.1/10 IMDb

Why not watch Gilmore Girls in Spanish? This intelligent Spanish drama includes a bit of comedy. It’s about a young single mom whose best friend is her daughter.

I suggest watching it with subtitles in English because it is fast-paced. This feel-good show is a classic because of its quirky characters and relatable plotlines. The show follows three generations of women and the complex relationships between them and their friends and relatives.

7. Galerías Velvet (Velvet)

Creator: Ramón Campos

Cast: Paula Echeverría, Miguel Angel Silvestre

Seasons: 4

Rating: 8.1/10 IMDb

The Velvet Spanish drama series is full of glamour and style that critics and audiences love. It’s set in the 1950s and 1960 in and around a high-end Spanish clothing store. It’s about the business and the love affair between the seamstress and the store’s heir.

Since this show focuses largely on the business, you may pick up some helpful business terminology in addition to clothing terms. Plus, you get to check out the fashion styles that were popular in Spain in the mid-20th century.

Watch “Velvet” on Netflix. It’s one of the most famous Spanish series today.

8. Vis a Vis (Locked Up)

Creator: Álex Pina

Cast: Najwa Nimri, Maggie Civantos, Alba Flores

Seasons: 4

Rating: 6.3/10 IMDb

English title: “The Time Between Seams”

This Spanish TV series was a hit! The story centers around Macarena, a woman who falls in love with her manipulative boss and commits crimes because of him—and goes to prison.

This prison drama is wildly popular on Netflix. Its spinoff, El Oasis, is also on Netflix.

9. Club de Cuervos (Crow Club)

Creator: Gaz Alazraki

Cast: Luis Gerardo Mendez, Mariana Treviño

Seasons: 4

Rating: 8.2/10 IMDb

This is a romantic drama series with a bit of comedy in it. It brings as many laughs as it does tears. Club de Cuervos is about sports, fame, and fortune. It feels like a high school drama because it’s light-hearted and fun to watch.

It follows Chava and Isabel, siblings who inherit their father’s soccer team after he dies unexpectedly. Their battle to be the boss is what it’s all about, and it makes for entertaining TV. It is full of drama that will keep telenovela lovers on the edge of their seat!

10. Las Chicas del Cable (Cable Girls)

Creator: Ramón Campos, Gema R. Neira

Cast:Blanca Suárez, Maggie Civantos

Seasons: 4

Rating: 7.6/10 IMDb

Cable Girls is one of the best Spanish dramas out there. It feels a bit like a telenovela in Spanish because it is dramatic. The show follows four women who work for Spain’s first national telephone company in Madrid in the 1920s.

It explores the challenges that women faced in their professional and romantic lives during a super conservative era. Since the characters occasionally use antiquated words and phrases, it’s a great way to practice old Spanish. Don’t worry; it’s not difficult to understand.
