Making the Switch to Remote Learning During the Coronavirus Outbreak

Amid the COVID-19 (coronavirus) crisis, more than 69,000 public schools have closed their doors in the United States during an unprecedented nationwide shutdown. 37 states have been affected and more than 35.9 million public school students are being forced to take classes virtually. While K-12 school boards across the country scramble to provide e-learning platforms for their students, more than 41% of schools admit to not having the ability to do so even for one day. Ultimately, it’s become the parents’ responsibility to establish a remote learning environment at home for their children and to promote their education through the skillful use of high-quality resources.

How HSA Can Help

Homeschool Spanish Academy counts on 10 years of service in foreign language education, providing remote learners with access to immersive Spanish classes. We have a unique curriculum and teaching style that can be tailored to the varied needs of students of all ages and levels. Students are immersed into a Spanish-speaking environment from day one, which allows them to learn the language quickly and in a more natural manner. Build your child’s Spanish fluency during this surprise break from traditional school, where they must learn from home. Check out the details of our remote learning programs below.

Additionally, if your child was unable to start or finish a scheduled study abroad experience due to the coronavirus, they can still get immersion-style Spanish! Sign them up for a free trial class with our native Spanish-speaking teachers from Guatemala and bring real Latin American culture into your home!

Is HSA Affected by the Coronavirus?

In Guatemala, where we are based, there have been 6 confirmed cases of coronavirus. Since our CEO, Ron Fortin, had operational plans in place since January, HSA was able to take precautionary action immediately. While our staff normally operates live online instruction from our headquarters in Antigua, Guatemala, we’ve set them up to deliver classes from the safety of their home.

In addition to these changes, and similar to other companies that offer remote learning services, the demand for our classes has increased dramatically in the last few days. This trend is guaranteed to rise over the next few months as students across the US engage in online learning.

As we move forward to continue providing our students with world-class 1-on-1 instruction, we maintain a strong digital infrastructure with fast-acting tech support to handle a major influx of new users.

Teachers are likely to book up quickly, and we will do our best to make sure all of our students have access to their favorite instructors.
