The best way to inform yourself is to experience firsthand the service we promise to offer.
Here’s how the process works step-by-step so you can get a better idea of what to expect:
How to Sign Up for Your Free Class
Once you’ve decided to give our program a try, the first thing you need to do is to sign up for your free trial Spanish class. All you have to do is to fill in a simple form with your full name, email, and phone number. Then choose a date and time for your free class and ¡listo! You’re ready to go and almost immediately you’ll receive a confirmation email and a text message on your phone.
That was easy, right?
Let’s see the step-by-step process again:
- Register
- Pick a date and time
- Look for a confirmation email and text message.
What to Expect Before Your Class

After registration, you’ll receive both a confirmation email and a text message on your phone. The reason for this double message is to avoid communication miscues such as emails getting lost in the spam folder or wrong number entered as your phone. By using two different ways of communication, HSA makes sure to reach you.
The purpose of these messages is two-fold. First, it serves to confirm your free trial Spanish class, while letting you know that HSA is aware of your interest in getting one. And second, it gives you the opportunity to contact our customer service team by replying to this email or text message in case you have any questions or require any type of support.
Then, one hour before your scheduled free class starts, you will receive an email with your login information and detailed instructions on how to access your lesson. Finally, HSA’s Care Team will contact you to provide tech support and personalized guidance to help you successfully log into your free Spanish class.
It’s important to mention that during this stage previous to your free class, you can choose your type of immersion-style you’d like to receive in your lesson. This means that you can request a full immersion free trial, which is a class entirely conducted in Spanish, or a partial immersion free trial, where your teacher will also talk to you in English.
Any information you can give the HSA Care Team during this period previous to your free class is important and useful, as they can design your class according to your specific needs and level of Spanish.
What to Expect During Your Class
To learn more about the whole process of a free trial lesson, I interviewed Ruth Mejía, Production Manager at HSA, who’s an expert on the topic and who’s given many free trial Spanish classes herself.

Ruth explained to me that teachers come to free trial lessons with a class already prepared, according to the information they get from HSA’s Care Team about the student’s Spanish level and needs. Then, they use the first 5 minutes of the class to establish a rapport with the student, ask basic questions about Spanish, likes, and dislikes, and get to know a little bit more about the student.

This period is crucial for teachers, as they use the information gained during this time to adapt their class to the specific likes and needs of each student.
It’s an ice-breaking period that serves both as an introduction and a guiding light for the teacher, who can now direct the class to where he or she thinks will work better.
Then it’s time for the proper Spanish class. This period usually consists of 18 minutes of useful and practical Spanish content. It starts with the teacher sharing a file with the student, who is then able to see on their screen the class specifically designed for them.
The last two minutes of the session are reserved to thank the student and their parents, and remind them that the HSA Care Team will contact them (usually that same day) to answer any question they may have about the classes.
- First 5 minutes: basic conversation and assessment
- 18 minutes: Fun, interactive lesson
- Last 2 minutes: Thank you’s and farewells

Types of Interactive Lessons In a Free Trial Class
There are different models of free trial classes that vary according to the age group of students and Spanish level, but Ruth shared with me a couple of their pre-designed lessons for you to get an idea of how these files look like.
Beginner Preschool or Elementary
The following is an image used in a lesson designed for beginners of preschool or elementary-age kids:

Intermediate or Advanced Middle School or High School
The following one, comes from a lesson designed for intermediate or advanced students of middle school and high school age:

Enjoy Meeting Your Spanish Goals Right Away
The goal for these lessons is that the students learn at least 5 new vocabulary words or a new concept in Spanish, and that they notice this progress in a single lesson of 25 minutes.
Free trial classes are fun, students don’t have to memorize terms, but they learn them while engaged in activities.
Free trial Spanish classes are designed to give students and their parents a clear idea of how the Spanish lessons are with HSA.
What to Expect After Your Class
Once the class is over you’ll receive a feedback email and post-class text message on your phone, which gives you the opportunity to express your thoughts on the free trial lesson and ask any questions you may have about it.
Finally, HSA’s Care Team will call you one more time to ask if you’re ready to sign up for a Spanish course, guide you through the different options available, and help you find the right fit for you.
