Planners
Being a parent is challenging, and being a homeschooling parent is double challenging.
You need to schedule your child’s lessons, activities, and family meals, keep track of attendance progress, and more.
Here are my favorites:
1. Hobonichi Planners
These Japanese planners come with daily, weekly, and monthly pages in different sizes and covers—my favorite one is Hanataba.
Don’t worry; you can order it in an English version, and apart from being useful, it will also make your homeschool desk more beautiful.

2. The Big Fat Secular Homeschool Planner
You can buy this planner online or get a printable PDF version.
The BFSHP comes with monthly calendar pages, weekly planning pages, month in review, resource organizer, record-keeping section, and end-of-year pages.
You can add bullets, unit study planners, an attendance tracker, and book logs.

When a regular planner is not enough, handy online tools can be what you need.
3. Google Drive Storage
I can’t imagine my life without Google Drive. It’s so helpful and easy to manage that there’s no need to look for other places to keep your data safe.
Google Drive can be divided into multiple folders where you can store planners, timetables, photos, and your kids’ work.
Also, all Google apps let you share the work with another user for collaborative learning, so it’s easy to make your kids work on the same project on different computers, or collaborate with other students in a local co-op.
You can store up to 15 GB for free or pay for more storage.

4. Homeschool Panda
It’s a great app that works on both iOS and Android devices.
With its help, you can plan, keep records, and connect with other parents. You can create and assign lessons and download lessons created by others. You can even track your homeschooling finances.

6. THE HSLDA
The Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) provides parents with assistance and support. You can find all the necessary information on homeschool laws by state and many valuable resources there.
Many things are free, but you can also get a membership that will give you even more resources.
7. Simple Homeschool
Simple Homeschool is a helpful site run by experienced homeschooling parents that provides you with courses, books, quizzes, and Internet Articles.
They even have their own podcast.

I don’t know about you, but I love podcasts. They help you maximize your time as you can listen to them anywhere and anytime.
8. Calm Parenting
Great for parents of strong-willed children. It provides you with life-changing strategies to stop all the power struggles.

11. Project-Based Homeschooling, by Lori Pickert
It offers lots of concrete ideas on how to teach hands-on and support your child’s interests.

12. Teach Your Own – by John Holt
John Holt’s name must ring a bell if you’ve been homeschooling for some time. He’s one of the pioneers of the modern homeschooling movement, with ideas that are still useful and popular nowadays.
The book tells you why to homeschool, how to do it, and soothes your worries.

13. Home Grown, by Ben Hewitt
If you’re into “wild” schooling, this book shows you that homeschooling can be taken outdoors. You will learn how to make your kids love and learn from the natural world.
More importantly, it shows you how to be a parent and a teacher and not confuse these two.

Help for Homeschoolers
These are helpful resources if you struggle with finding the right homeschool curriculum. I have divided them by school level.
Kindergarten and Preschool
The little ones don’t need many online resources, but here are the ones my kids loved at this age.
14. Education.com
Education.com is a helpful combo. It gives you lesson plans, worksheets, games, activities, exercises, science projects, songs, and stories.
It goes up to 8th grade, but I find it especially useful for preschool and kindergarten.
Some materials are free, you can also play two educational games a day, and a Premium account, starting at $10.99 per month, grants you access to the entire website.
With a premium account, you can assign lessons and tasks for your students.
It also has an app that teaches literacy, math, and typing.
15. Khan Academy Kids
Khan Academy Kids is a younger sister of Khan Academy.
It is an amazing free app available in the App store, Google Play, and Amazon Appstore, and it covers reading and writing for children ages 2 to 8.
Resources for Elementary
16. Epic!
We started using Epic! when my older one was 7, and we haven’t stopped since then. This app will save you from bankruptcy if you have a child who devours books.
It is a leading digital library for kids and has Spanish books. Many of the books come in the “read to me” category, so even kids that are not yet proficient at reading will enjoy them.
17. SplashLearn
I started using SplashLearn for fun Math games and later discovered that this learning platform also has reading activities.
You can sign up for free, but a premium version unlocks unlimited fun.

Middle School Resources
Are you homeschooling a middle-schooler? Here are some helpful resources.
18. Middle School Art Lesson
Middle School Art Lessons are a lifesaver if you’re one of these parents that are strong academically but whose creative skills are a different story.
The lessons are categorized by grade level, subject, integration, art period, artist, and medium.
19. Time4Learning
If you’re looking for a complete middle school curriculum, choose Time4Learning.
It provides detailed lesson plans, various media (both online and offline), and printable work. Online work is graded automatically.
It costs $30 per month and includes 4 courses per student.
High School Resources
Homeschooling high school is a serious issue, and good resources are priceless.
20. Khan Academy
Khan Academy is undoubtedly the best free, self-paced online curriculum for high school. It covers not only the core subjects but also many electives.
It introduces all the content with videos and text and lets students check their knowledge with tests and final evaluations.
21. Handouts for High-Schoolers
This is my latest discovery.
Duke Trinity College of Arts and Sciences provides free handouts for high school students to support them with writing activities.
Your kid will learn how to write a college application essay and personal statement, take notes, develop a thesis statement, approach a research project, and many more.
