Benefits of Bulletin Boards

If you’re still wondering if it’s worth spending hours on your classroom decor, let me tell you why it is!

Bulletin boards have many functions and enhance your teaching in various ways:

1. Increase student engagement

The impact of learning spaces on student success is proven. A beautiful environment encourages students to work together, think better, and reach their full potential. A creative environment equals greater student engagement.

2. Provide a print immersion experience

In teaching foreign languages, immersion is crucial. Take your students to the Spanish-speaking world via your classroom decor.

3. Inspire student pride and motivation

Students feel more motivated if their work is proudly displayed. Bulletin boards showcase students’ work both inside and outside the classroom.

It promotes healthy competition and it saves you time, as these boards need almost no planning.

4. Teach and reinforce lesson content

Use the bulletin boards to teach and reinforce your lesson content. Display new vocabulary, grammar rules, a map of Spanish-speaking countries, or whatever is in your lesson plan.

It’s also a great medium to introduce the cultural element and teach your students about festivities and traditions in Spain and Latin America.

5. Enable students to interact with you

Has it ever occurred to you that students can interact with the bulletin board? It can be something as simple as having displayed a huge mandala that students can color when they feel like it.

Alternatively, leave post-it notes with motivational phrases for the students to take home, sentences to translate, or homework assignments.
